This homemade Mango Jam is free from artificial preservatives and colors, making it a healthier option compared to store-bought varieties. Plus, the process of making jam at home is incredibly satisfying and allows you to enjoy the pure taste of mangoes whenever you like.

Whether you spread it on toast, stir it into your morning yogurt, or use it as a filling for pastries, this Mango Jam will quickly become a favorite in your household. It’s also a great way to use up an abundance of ripe mangoes during the peak of mango season.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups ripe mangoes, peeled, pitted, and chopped (about 4 large mangoes)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

How to Make Mango Jam:

  1. Prepare the Mangoes:
  • Rinse, peel, and pit the mangoes. Chop them into small pieces. You will need about 4 cups of chopped mangoes.
  1. Blend the Mangoes:
  • Place the chopped mangoes in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. You should have a smooth mango purée. If you prefer a chunkier jam, you can blend only half of the mangoes and chop the rest into small pieces.
  1. Cook the Mango Mixture:
  • Transfer the mango purée to a large saucepan. Add the sugar and lemon juice, and stir well to combine.
  1. Cook the Jam:
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer. Stir frequently to prevent the jam from sticking to the bottom of the pan and burning.
  1. Check the Consistency:
  • Continue to cook the jam until it thickens, which should take about 20-30 minutes. To check if the jam is ready, place a small spoonful of the hot jam on a plate and let it cool. If it sets and wrinkles when you push it with your finger, the jam is ready. If not, continue to cook for a few more minutes and test again.
  1. Sterilize the Jars:
  • While the jam is cooking, sterilize your jars and lids by boiling them in water for 10 minutes. Carefully remove and let them dry.
  1. Fill the Jars:
  • Once the jam has reached the desired consistency, carefully ladle it into the sterilized jars. Leave about 1/4 inch of space at the top. Wipe the rims clean and seal with the lids.
  1. Process the Jars (Optional):
  • For longer shelf life, you can process the filled jars in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes. This step is optional if you plan to store the jam in the refrigerator and consume it within a few weeks.
  1. Cool and Store:
  • Let the jars cool to room temperature. You should hear a popping sound as the jars seal. Store the Mango Jam in a cool, dark place. Once opened, keep the jam in the refrigerator.
  1. Enjoy Your Mango Jam:
  • Spread the Mango Jam on toast, pancakes, or waffles. Use it as a topping for yogurt, ice cream, or oatmeal. It also makes a delightful filling for pastries and cakes. Enjoy the taste of tropical mangoes all year round!

Elevate your breakfast and desserts with the tropical sweetness of our homemade Mango Jam. Simple to make and bursting with flavor, this jam is the perfect way to preserve the taste of ripe mangoes and enjoy them long after the season has passed.
