About This Recipe:

Mango Cinnamon Rolls offer a tantalizing twist on the classic cinnamon roll recipe by incorporating the exotic flavor of ripe mangoes. The sweet and tangy mango filling adds a burst of tropical fruitiness to each bite, while the warm cinnamon-infused dough envelops your senses with its comforting aroma.

These rolls are made using a simple yeast dough, which is rolled out and spread with a luscious mango-cinnamon filling before being rolled up into spirals. Once baked to golden perfection, these rolls are topped with a creamy glaze, adding a touch of sweetness to balance the flavors.

Ingredients:

  • For the Dough:
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • For the Mango Filling:
  • 2 ripe mangoes, peeled and diced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • For the Cinnamon Sugar Mixture:
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • For the Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

How to Make Mango Cinnamon Rolls:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  • Add the melted butter, sugar, salt, and eggs to the yeast mixture. Stir until well combined.
  • Gradually add the flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  1. Make the Mango Filling:
  • In a blender or food processor, puree the diced mangoes until smooth.
  • Transfer the mango puree to a saucepan, add the sugar and ground cinnamon, and cook over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the melted butter. Set aside to cool slightly.
  1. Roll Out the Dough:
  • Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  1. Assemble the Rolls:
  • Spread the softened butter evenly over the rolled-out dough.
  • Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the butter, leaving a small border around the edges.
  • Spread the mango filling evenly over the cinnamon sugar layer.
  1. Roll Up the Dough:
  • Starting from one long edge, tightly roll up the dough into a log.
  • Use a sharp knife to cut the log into 12 equal-sized rolls.
  1. Bake the Rolls:
  • Place the rolls in a greased baking dish or on a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space between each roll.
  • Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise for an additional 30-45 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  1. Make the Glaze:
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the warm mango cinnamon rolls.
  1. Serve and Enjoy:
  • Serve the Mango Cinnamon Rolls warm, allowing the gooey mango filling and fragrant cinnamon aroma to tantalize your taste buds.
  • Enjoy these tropical delights for breakfast, brunch, or dessert, and savor every delicious bite!

Expert Tips:

  • To enhance the flavor of the mango filling, consider adding a splash of fresh lime juice or a pinch of lime zest.
  • For a variation, try incorporating chopped nuts or raisins into the cinnamon sugar filling for added texture and flavor.
  • These rolls are best enjoyed fresh on the day they are baked, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Simply reheat them in the microwave for a few seconds before serving.
  • Feel free to customize the glaze by adding a dash of cinnamon or a hint of mango essence for extra flavor.

Mango Cinnamon Rolls are a delightful fusion of tropical sweetness and comforting warmth, making them a perfect treat for any occasion. Whether enjoyed as a decadent breakfast, indulgent brunch, or delightful dessert, these rolls are sure to become a new favorite in your recipe collection.
